When I took up photography 6 years ago it was for one purpose only – to document my family’s life. I was a mommy blogger over at Tales From the Crib (apologies, that site is now pretty defunct except for Pinterest visitors); I wanted to be able to take beautiful portraits to go along with my writing. When my husband came home one Christmas with my first DSLR I about had a heart attack -what was I going to do with THAT thing?!? I’d have to learn how to actually use it!! But I did. And I realized quickly a dormant creativity I hadn’t really utilized since my college theater days. I found myself wanting to create beautiful images not just of my own family but other families as well. Eventually that lead to this little business of mine. I was really too naive to realize what I was getting myself into, and for that I am forever grateful. But along the way, as I began creating beautiful memories for others I stopped documenting my own memories. I got too busy running a business and forgot to also run my home. My own children were like the cobbler’s children with no shoes. So among my list of business goals for this new year I have included a little personal goal as well – to document more of my family’s life. All the way back to the beginning for me.
This weekend I picked up my camera and captured a slice of a typical Sunday morning in our house. It’s lazy. It’s quiet(ish). It usually involves bacon or cinnamon rolls or both and lots of coffee. It is, in a word, perfection.
If you are interested in capturing a little slice of your life I do offer Lifestyle Portrait sessions. This type of session is un-posed and natural. It is me following you like a bit of a fly-on-the-wall. Maybe making breakfast and reading stories with your little ones. Or perhaps an afternoon spent making a snowman and sipping hot cocoa? A picnic at one of the beautiful parks that surround our area? The possibilities are endless, it is truly all about you and your family. Contact me today to find out more. Don’t forget to document your family’s life as well…
