It’s no secret, I love a good prop! I get such a kick out of finding unique and special prop options for my babies and families to utilize during their sessions. Personally I feel my distinct prop collection (I have an entire ROOM of props and backdrops!) is something that sets me apart as a newborn photographer. I scour online stores as well as local boutiques and antique shops to find items that won’t be found everywhere else. Sometimes I even make them myself. And when I see something special you better believe I snap it up quick! Each piece is carefully scrutinized for safety, then cleaned and maintained between every single use. A prop isn’t the show –baby is the star of every portrait I capture, but a prop can definitely elevate your baby’s portrait to a beautiful level of artistry. Your portraits become timeless art pieces to be treasured for many generations.
Three of my favorite and most requested props include this classic doll carriage, my vintage airplane, and the old fashioned grocery scale (perfect for recording baby’s birth weight!). I love how each one can be styled so differently depending on how it’s being used, while still putting baby as the center of attention! Which one is your favorite?
