These kids right here? Yeah, they’re kind of special. They’re mine. Well, they’re not all literally mine – only the two boys call me mom. The other 5 call me auntie. That’s pretty cool, too. My two sisters and I live between 500 – 800 miles away from each other so we only get to be all together about once a year, twice if we’re lucky. Every summer we gather our broods in our birth-city of Lubbock, Texas, where most of our extended family lives. The cousins know the drill — unlimited swimming at OP’s pool (that’s my Dad – Old Pop), drive-in movies, food runs, soda (!!), jumping on the trampoline, slumber parties, and of course an obligatory photoshoot that typically leaves at least one person in tears (um, sometimes that person is me). But this past summer there were no tears, just lots of smiles and laughter. It was hot and we were all sweaty, but we had fun. To make the session even more memorable, this year we decided to have it at my alma mater, Texas Tech University. I love the beautiful architecture of Tech and was super excited to get these beautiful images under the arches on campus. I know I will treasure these portraits forever, just like I do these amazing kiddos!
One shot of my Mama with her grands – so much love going on here!
Oh yeah, and this shot of my two fellas? Pretty much makes my heart want to explode with happiness.
