Just south of Castle Rock in Larkspur, Dawson Butte is one of my favorite hidden gems for photo sessions. This stunning location offers year-round beauty with a wide variety of scenic backdrops—mountain views, lush open fields, tall evergreens, and peaceful walking paths. Each season brings something unique, making it a perfect choice no matter the time of year.
One of the things I love most about Dawson Butte is its incredible mountain views without the long drive. It’s close to home—especially helpful when little ones are along for the ride—but it feels like a world away. And don’t be surprised if a deer or two wanders into the background—just another bit of Colorado magic!
Bonus: If you’re looking for a great local hike, Dawson Butte is also a fantastic trail to explore before or after your session.
