This has been a week. I’ve been filled with the utmost joy and the most heartbreaking sorrow all in a single week.
I have photographed beautiful families who are so full of love.
Families at the beginning of their journey…
new babies…
…and birthdays
…and little life moments that are their own celebration
…and finally, a family coming to the end of a journey…a loved one who is losing her battle with cancer.
I am honored to be present in all of these moments. It is the greatest joy of my job, witnessing this kind of human love and devotion. It can be emotional and taxing and take over my life at times. It also has shown me how quickly time passes, and how sometimes we have to stop and reflect and just “be.”
And that coincides with a change in our own family life. The school year for my two boys is nearing its end. My Kindergartner and 3rd grader will soon be out of school and ready for the fun that is summer break. So while I will still be working as much as I can manage, it also means I slow down in other ways. I won’t be taking on as many weekday sessions – that time is reserved for my own kiddos. My weekend sessions will still be available, but on a limited basis. We’ll travel a bit, see family, discover more of our backyard playground that is Colorado. Because if this amazing, wonderful photography journey of mine has taught me anything it is that family is what it’s all about.
